Counseling is a relationship. It is a place to exhale. Maybe you know exactly what you want to talk through; maybe you just know you need to talk, but have no idea where to begin. How you come makes no difference, you just have to do the bold thing of showing up. My desire is to create a welcoming and safe environment for you to be present. The most important part of the counseling process is the relational fit and safety you experience in the room. It is a sacred and special place.
My approach is highly conversational and relational. My hope is that walking into my office you feel peace and deep care. Counseling is hard. It can be gut wrenching and terrifying. It is a place to walk out wounds, to repair and renew. It is a place to belly laugh and to soul weep. I love hearing life stories. It is a gift to sit with someone in uncharted places and relearn how to tell our stories and how we see ourselves.
I’ve been fortunate to work at New Hope for 20 years. This is a sweet place. In those years, I have sat with folks in different ages and stages of life talking through all that living in a world with joy and pain can bring. Life transitions: high school, college, motherhood, parenting, singleness, marriage, moves, etc. The deep pain of abuse: mental, emotional, physical, sexual, relational. Self harm, Self Sabotage, Disordered Eating, Anxiety, Depression, Feeling unmoored or lost in a sense of self, Disappointment, Betrayal, Family and Relational confusion and hurt. Grief and loss. I love sitting with adolescents and women at any age. Over the years, I’ve also seen the benefit of family counseling. Wherever you are and whatever you are dealing with, we can do it together.
