Hi, I’m Luke.  I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been counseling at New Hope for 18 years. Whether I’m working with an individual or a couple, I hope to offer a sense of emotional safety and belonging to my clients that will empower them to reckon with the range of symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, life transitions, issues of worth or identity, or experiences of shame, grief or broken trust, that can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and others and leave us discontent with our lives.

Clients have consistently expressed that our work together has helped them come to understand and accept themselves and begin to heal from things that have left them feeling confused, stuck or hopeless.  In our time together, you can expect that our work will be collaborative, uniquely tailored to the way you understand yourself and the world, and guided by a range of grounded, therapeutic wisdom.   And, as strange as it may sound, it will be enjoyable.  The laughter that comes in the midst of walking through the things that have brought pain, shame, or fear, is the most authentic, and hard-fought-joy-filled laughter that I have ever experienced.

Though I have worked with folks experiencing the range of difficulties that life can throw at us, I have developed a few areas of specialization over the years.  I have offered group and individual counseling for men wrestling with sexual addiction.  I have worked with men who are questioning their sexual orientation and identity as well as helped them integrate this part of themselves with their faith convictions.  In the last few years, as the demands on pastors, and the dividedness of our communities, have increased, I have found myself working with more pastors who are experiencing burnout or bullying.  And I have had the privilege of journeying with men and women who are in the process of dechurching or deconstructing/reconstructing their faith.
