Did you know that grief isn’t limited to the context of losing a loved one?  Throughout my extensive work with clients, I have come to recognize that grief—in its various forms and nuances—is a theme that emerges time and time again—especially as we navigate the challenges of today’s world.  The theme of grief and its facets have been confirmed through various readings and trainings that I have completed specific to grief.  As a result, I have developed a passion for helping clients navigate, learn, and embrace areas in their lives that they did or, perhaps did not, know needed to be grieved and lamented.

With over 20 years of experience in the mental health profession and a previous career in Emergency Medical Services, I have a unique perspective when sitting with and helping clients work through the challenges of life.  My heart for helping first responders, medical professionals, and their family members harkens back to my own time as a paramedic; however, my practice is not limited to that population.  I also have substantial experience and regularly work with varied individuals and couples who need assistance navigating grief, anxiety, depression, relationship trauma, and spiritual wounds.

I earned a master’s degree in counseling from Covenant Theological Seminary, maintain the National Certified Counselor credential, am licensed in the state of Missouri, and have a bachelor’s degree in biology—such credentials bring a diverse educational background and varied experience to my practice.

When not at work I relish spending time with my family—which includes my husband, my daughter and my son, 2 horses, 2 dogs, and a persnickety cat.  Reading, listening to podcasts, exercising, delighting in the Lord’s creation by being outdoors, and having the privilege of engaging in equestrian pursuits are activities that bring me abundant joy and profound refreshment.

If you would like to set up a first session, you can request an appointment via my phone at 636-779-0336 or email me at  JenniferW@NewHopeSTL.org. If you are unsure about whether or not you could benefit from therapy, or if we would be a good fit, I am happy to answer any questions you may have.
