Who is this for

This 3 hour long therapy group is for kids ages 11-14. It’s for any kid struggling with any issue! But it may be particularly geared for kids struggling with anxiety and depression, or perhaps anyone who finds that they are struggling with social skills.

Each child and parent will be consulted with individually to figure out if this group would work well for them or not. All resources will be provided! You do not need to know how to play the game beforehand as it will be taught by the therapist.

What to expect

We will play a full campaign! So this will be a long term group. Your child may feel they are ready to exit before then and that is ok, or they may wish to continue, and we will continue to play other games via D&D with the intent to grow in our understanding of whatever the struggle or hardship is for your child. This means that some time will be devoted to therapeutic gameplay and some will be more devoted to process time around how they experienced their struggle in the game or with a fellow group member and how we can solve or grow from that moment.

Benefits

Better understanding of his/her struggle

When we both talk about what is hard and hear others talk about it we gain more insight into our unique complexities

Building internal and external skills

We will have many moments in the game and out of the game to test out different ways of engaging with hard things to learn what works best

Relationship with others to heal and grow

No one is an island. We are both hurt in relationships and find healing in them too. Groups give us the opportunity to form deep connections and to feel seen, heard and understood.
